The Sunrise

Beautiful sunrise with low clouds

This morning’s sunrise was completely amazing. It was going to rain fairly soon, so when you looked west, you saw low dark clouds swirling up to great heights and rushing towards yourself. I was in awe at that, and also when you looked east, the sun was just starting to crest above the treeline. This was then changing some of the rolling clouds to a spectacular orange-red hue. I actually stopped my bike ride for a minute to take the above photo, and to just look at the whole scene. I thought the photo would turn out a little better than it did, but the contrast of the streetlight with the sunlight wasn’t exactly right. But, as is often said: you can’t win them all!

I think the scene also touched a certain major chord in me. I know there are storms coming down the road, and there always will be. But, it’s important to remember that the sun will still rise, and cast the darkness into a new light.

I am amazed at the moment of all the good little things in my life. I am so grateful for them because they keep me going, and help me to pay attention to the moments of the present. Too often, I’m planning and filling my day and my head with garbage. It helps sometimes to just stop for a second and realize how wonderful it is to experience this life, both the high points and the low points.
